5/24/17 5:44 PM - We lost one of our guinea pigs today, my favorite, Chocolate Chip. He was about 5 years old, we adopted him on 12/31/12 from a friends' family, and he died this morning sometime between 1:30 and 5:30 AM, we found him this morning and have been sad all day.

05/24/2017 05:42 PM - For pigtures of our 4 guinea pigs, please go to my wife's facebook page: cavy chatter, the site listed below is outdated. Our 4 pigs are: Chocolate Chip, Candy Cane, Lucy and our new pig, Gus, whom we adopted on 5/2/14.

8/29/2010 9:15 PM - My wife started a new site starring our 4 guinea pigs: http://pigtopia4.wetpaint.com and please check it out. Thanks.

7/19/2009 6:45 AM - The Motion Picture Club Day At the Movies Street Fair this year is today Sunday July 19 2009 in Manhattan.

5/6/2008 4:30 PM - The Motion Picture Club Street Fair this year is on Sunday July 20 2008 in Manhattan. I am looking forward to seeing what movie posters they have this time.

4/2/2008 9:00 AM - We lost the last of our 3 original guinea pigs, Scamper, this morning at 6:12 AM. He was born along with his sister Percy on 7/16/2002, which made him about 5-3/4 years old. Steph and I are very sad and miss him already, but we are thankful that we have our 1 year old adopted pigs, Mocha and Lilly, to keep us company.

4/1/2008 10:00 AM - So, in March, I finally bought a Blu-ray machine, the Sony BDP-S300. I like it so far, the picture is great, but the first Blu-ray I played, Casino Royale, froze during play and I had to pull the plug on the machine and insert the disc again. But the rest of the film played fine. I have played another Blu-ray since and that played fine.

2/19/2008 6:15 PM - I am happy and sad. The Giants are Super Bowl Champions, but HD DVD, the superior high definition DVD format lost to Blu-ray when Toshiba gave up on their format today. I guess I will have to buy a Blu-ray player now. I still do think that Blu-ray players are too expensive, but the public and the studios chose the one format over the other.

1/22/2008 9:00 AM - My favorite football team, The New York Giants are in the Super Bowl again after 7 years. That was a great win over the classy Green Bay Packers. So all Giants fans need to get together and root for them to beat the New England Patriots. GO GIANTS! On a different note, Warner Brothers has dropped support of the HD DVD format and have given their full support to the Blu-ray format. Warner does usually have some of the better films, so I probably will also have to buy a Blu-ray machine so I could have their films and other studios in high-definition.

12/21/2007 11:30 PM - UPDATE: I guess I was wrong about this! DVD fans please do yourself a favor and buy the superior and DVD Forum approved high definition DVD format, HD DVD. There have been 4 Blu-ray discs that have been recalled in the last couple weeks, Pirates 1, Harry Potter (Goblet), Blade Runner and now T3 all for different problems. I still have not had any problems playing any discs in my Toshiba HD DVD player. Why have people stuck with the inferior format?  Is it just because software sales are higher for Blu-ray? Blu-ray's problems will catch up to them, and the consumer will suffer with DVD's that are not playable. Please support the superior format, HD DVD!

8/23/2007 6:30 PM - I have heard enough! I would not even be writing this if Blu-ray supporters were honest and truthful about the facts behind the high definition DVD format war. I had been planning in the future to add a Blu-ray player to my HD DVD player when they become more affordable. But for now I have to answer some of the half truths and the ridiculous things Blu-ray supporters have said about HD DVD. Blu-ray is the inferior format, not HD DVD. The first generation Sony Blu-ray machines would not even play CD's and they would not play some of Sony's own films. The machine needed a firmware update right away so the owner could even use it. When I hooked up my Toshiba HD DVD player, I was playing HD DVD's right away, no problems. HD DVD is the official next generation format of the DVD Forum, which governs DVD formats. So they should know. Blu-ray is a rogue format that was not needed, HD DVD was introduced first. Also Blu-ray discs are a different thickness than DVD's or HD DVD's, so duplication is more expensive. HD DVD has combo discs which means I can play the DVD side in my portable DVD player while we are traveling or on vacation. Blu-ray does not have that. It is totally different than standard DVD. Paramount is saying that they have chosen to support HD DVD because all players must be capable of HDi interactivity and because Blu-ray keeps changing their tech specs which will cause compatibility problems. Is this the reason why Blu-ray interactive titles are a year behind HD DVD interactive titles? Why is Batman Begins only on HD DVD and not on Blu-ray when Warner Brothers supports both? It has the most special features I have ever seen on any format.  Why has Fox not had a Blu-ray release since April? Now they are finally announcing new titles after 4 months. Why is MGM supporting Blu-ray? Is it because they are partially owned by Sony? Why are some studios behind Blu-ray, when its owner is a rival studio? I have read in reports that Blu-ray software sales are 2 to 3 times more than HD DVD. That is definitely false. Its more like 60-40 in Blu-ray's favor. Its a lot closer than the Blu-ray camp would like you to know. It looks like their job is to deceive the public into believing their format is doing so much better when its not. They also say they have the support of most of the studios. Blu-ray has 7 behind them and HD DVD has 6. Its very close, but they do not want you to know that. Blu-ray is being sued right now by Target Technologies for copyright infringement. Do you want to invest in a format that is being sued? Also Blu-ray players are still at least $200 more than HD DVD players. The only reason Blu-ray is in the lead is because the PS3 can play the discs. Personally to me a true film fan does not buy a video game system to play movies. You would buy a stand alone player. I ask my readers to please research before you get deceived by all the propaganda. And this is from a guy who used to be a big Beta supporter. Beta had a shorter tape path, smaller tape size and a better picture than VHS. Beta was much better, Blu-ray is not. I apologize for this, but why is Steven Spielberg supporting Blu-ray? Unfortunately, I don't think he has done research on the formats. If he did he would find that HD DVD is superior. Thanks for listening.

7/1/2007 5:30 PM - A Day At the Movies Festival this year is Sunday July 22nd in New York City. I can't wait to see what movie posters I can pick up this year.

6/5/2007 7:10 AM - We now also have lost our original guinea pig, Patches. She died yesterday 6/4/2007 7:20 AM. She lived for 5-1/2 years and we bought her from a pet store in May 2002, having her for over 5 years. We are very sad to lose our fun and friendly little companion. We will miss her dearly. But we still do have her son, Scamper and our 2 new piggies who bring joy into our lives.

3/17/2007 7:15 AM - We were so sad about our Percy that we adopted 2 new piggies on 3/15 and their names are Mocha and Lily. They are very cute and we are very happy to have them. I will post their pigtures soon. REVISED ON 7/1/2007 5:30 PM - My pictures are not working for now, please check my wife's site www.piggies3.blinkz.com.

2/18/2007 9:00 AM - We lost one of our guinea pigs today. Poor Percy had a growth that overtook her today at 7:00 AM. She was so full of life and we miss her already. Check out my wife's website for pictures of Percy, www.piggies3.blinkz.com.

1/28/2007 4:00 PM - REVISED 2/3/2007: I have come out in support of HD DVD over Blu-ray because HD DVD is the official next generation standard approved by the DVD Forum, see www.dvdforum.org for more info. Half the studios support each and even though the format war is confusing I will give my support to HD DVD. But I will start listing new releases in both formats in my 2007 DVD releases page. I just bought a Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player and can't wait until it gets delivered. I will have a review of it soon. REVISED 2/11/2007: I have been using my new HD DVD player and I am impressed with the improved clarity and dialogue enhancement of the player and it does a great job of upconversion of regular DVD'S. I recommend it for video fans like myself.

11/7/2006 9:00 PM - I have neglected to mention that we have occasionally gone to the Loews Jersey theater in Jersey City, NJ for revivals of classic films or groups of films. Its great to see a movie again in a very large theater like we used to when we were younger. For more info go to their site www.loewsjersey.net and see what showings are coming up. For James Bond fans keep in mind the new Bond film Casino Royale starts November 17th.

10/14/2006 8:25 AM - The New York Comic Con is supposed to have more space at The Javitz Center this year. It better because there was hardly enough room to move. I would love to go again, but I remember being so crowded almost all the time it was a little overwhelming. For film fans I would recommend joining the AMC movie watcher plan, it seems like I am getting something free or at least discounted every time I go. Its worth it.

8/3/2006 8:00 PM - There were not as many movie posters this year as in years past at the street fair in New York. Still I got Superman Returns, The Pink Panther, Ice Age: The Meltdown and Night at the Museum, which is a December release. The same day we had seen Tarzan on Broadway and it was very good like the other Disney productions on Broadway.

6/24/2006 3:50 PM - The date changed this year for the Day At the Movies Street Fair in NYC. It is now Sunday July 23 2006. I can't wait to get some of the posters I want like Superman Returns, Casino Royale, The Pink Panther, Poseidon. There has been so many cool movie posters lately. I see that my comic book film page has become more popular lately, there is much interest in the next comic book to film adaptations.

5/6/2006 8:08 AM - The trailer for Casino Royale, the new James Bond film, looks good and I can't wait for it. It releases November 17 2006. I think people have to give Daniel Craig a chance and stop coming down on him before they see the film.

3/18/2006 10:00 AM - The date this year for the Day At the Movies Street Fair in NYC is Sunday July 30 2006. We always have a good time and I usually get a lot of great movie posters and the proceeds go to charity.

2/26/2006 5:30 PM - We went to the NY Comic Con on Saturday and there were so many people that some had to be turned away. We liked it, but thought that the Con could have used both floors of the Javitz Center and not just the lower level. I think they underestimated the interest of comic fans in the NYC area. Next time I hope they get it right. We enjoyed Eight Below even though it is sad for animal lovers, but its a very involving film. Firewall was Harrison Ford's most fun movie in years, it has a few plot holes, but we liked it anyway.

2/15/2006 8:10 PM - The Pink Panther was the funniest movie I have seen in a long time, if you are a fan of the Panther films or of Steve Martin you have to go see it. I laughed so hard I was crying a few times. My wife and I are going to the NYC Comic Con on Saturday the 25th to check out some info on the movie comic book adaptations that we should be expecting on the big screen soon. See you there.

1/10/2006 7:46 PM - We went to the New York Boat Show, and saw the Boats of Bond exhibit, it was very cool to see some of Bond's underwater vehicles right in front of you. We have seen some of his cars, so we figured we should check it out. It's fun for Bond fans.

10/8/2005 7:00 PM - I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes of the fifth season of Smallville, I think this season should be better than the last, and it's wild now that Clark and Lex are definitely enemies. I was very disappointed in Serenity, I had never watched Firefly, but I figured I'll try the movie. I did not like the characters. I wasn't emotionally attached to anyone and I am surprised that critics liked it so much.

6/27/2005 7:30 AM - A Day At the Movies Street Fair in NYC this year is on July 24th, for more details see www.motionpictureclub.org for more info. Batman Begins was just a little short of excellent, so much better than the sequels, the Batman franchise has new life!

5/22/2005 7:30 AM - I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the fourth season finale of Smallville on Wednesday, it was the best yet. Clark has acted more like Superman lately than at any time before, he definitely has grown up. I can't wait to find out who or what was in that ship that landed at the end of the episode!

5/15/2005 3:15 PM - I want to add another great site to buy movie posters and stills. RicksMovie.com your source for affordable movie posters!

3/12/2005 1:10 PM - My wife, Stephanie, started her own website starring our 3 guinea pigs, if you would like to check it out, here is the url and a link: www.piggies3.blinkz.com

3/10/2005 11:30 PM- I have not written in awhile, but I thought that Ray, Finding Neverland or Million Dollar Baby were all good choices for best picture at the Oscar's. I haven't seen the other 2 films. I still want to see The Aviator. The films I've seen recently: Man of the House was fun, Son of the Mask was terrible and Hitch was a good romantic comedy.

10/30/2004 3:45 PM - Ray was an amazing film, and you had to keep telling yourself that this is Jamie Foxx and not Ray Charles. He better win Best Actor for this one of a kind performance. Again, it was just amazing, go see it. One the other hand, the direction and camera work in Friday Night Lights was so jumpy and sloppy and the characters were so superficial, I lost interest almost right away. Avoid it at all costs.

9/22/2004 11:00 PM - Just watched the 4th season premiere of Smallville. Lois Lane's character added to the mix is an excellent idea. It will change some relationships and direction of the show. Over the weekend we had seen Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. The second half of the film moved quicker and was more fun than the first half. But you have to like a lot of CGI and a more old fashioned story. I found that people either like it's mix of styles or don't. If you don't like it, then I would recommend The Iron Giant, The Rocketeer or Raiders of the Lost Ark.

08/09/2004 7:24 PM - Look below for a picture of our 2-year old guinea pigs. They are now 4 years old.

07/25/2004 9:30 PM - We went to A Day At the Movies festival in NYC, bought some movie posters and the money went to charity. Film fans look out for this festival in late July every year. Check www.motionpictureclub.org for more info. We had also seen Anchorman, it is very crude, has a few funny moments and is not for kids. Also I, Robot was a fast-paced action film with a good story for a change. King Arthur was a good re-telling of the legend and had some emotion in the acting. But best of all was Spider-Man 2. It was awesome. Anyone with interest should see it. It is one of the best comic book films ever. One factor could be that the screen story was co-written by the Smallville producers. I also started a Poster Store where you could buy movie posters from allposters.com.

06/23/2004 2:50 PM - I have been watching my Smallville Season 2 Set and there is a very good documentary on Christopher Reeve's appearance on Smallville. He is known for his knowledge of Superman as a character. Also on the set, the Gag Reel is a lot of fun because it shows the stars, who are usually so serious in the show, mess up and say funny things. The show will be introducing Lois Lane, as Chloe's cousin, in Season 4. I can't wait until September 22 when it comes back.

05/31/2004 11:20 PM - The Day After Tomorrow was fun and the visual effects, especially the New York City scenes, were some of the most spectacular I have seen in a while. The story could have been tightened up a bit, the running time was a little long. But if you like disaster films like I do, then you should check it out.

05/21/2004 11:26 PM - Had just seen Shrek 2, you will have a good time, it was not as great as the first, but if you're a fan you have to go, it's still a lot of fun. This week in the theaters, The Day After Tomorrow opens on the 28th. I usually love big disaster movies, I guess I have a weakness for them.

05/16/2004 11:00 AM - I want to say thank you to the folks who are visiting my site. Thanks for your interest and if there is something you would like to see on the site, please let me know. I just started my buy it page where you can order the movies I highlight from Amazon. There's a great sports movie coming out on Tuesday the 18th, Miracle with Kurt Russell. You don't have to like sports to enjoy it. Smallville fans remember Season 2 also releases on Tuesday on DVD and the third season finale, Covenant, airs on Wednesday the 19th at 8 Eastern on the WB. See my SMALLVILLE EPISODE GUIDE for pictures and more info. Also remember Shrek 2 is released in the theatres on Wednesday, but since Smallville is on, I will wait for Friday to see it.

08/09/2004 7:24 PM - Revised: I need new pictures. Here is a picture of our 2-year old guinea pigs, from left to right: Patches, Percy and Scamper. Revised: they are now over 4 years old. Revised: our 3 original pigs have all passed away now. We have our 1-year-old pigs, Mocha and Lilly.
